Aristargos 2016 – I’m in love

My partner in wine and life, and I, just embarked on 10 days of honeymoon and pure bliss in Mauritius. Known for warm water, white beaches and ludicrously expensive wines we decided to pack swimmers, sun cream and some of our favourite South African wines. And by some I mean 12!

The book I’m reading ‘CORK DORK’ talks of a honeymoon wine. That special bottle you share and will never forget; at that special moment in paradise. But drink that wine in less special circumstances it tastes far less superior.

Well not this ladies and gents; this is one of 12 of our honeymoon wines and I know it tastes spectacular in which ever setting you are lucky enough to open it.

Here we are sanctifying our love with a wine that celebrates one of the most dynamic wine making duos and husband & wife team that South Africa, and ultimately the world has had the honour of seeing, tasting & experiencing; David & Nadia “Together, they have crafted some of the most profound wines coming out of South Africa” Greg Sherwood

Aristargos 2016 – The name means, “The best way of leading is by serving others” This is love in a bottle; Their Love for each other. Love for you. Love for me. Love for the Swartland. Love for the grape. Love for old vines. The terroir.

When we love someone or something we show them uncompromised respect. Which David & Nadia do to their soils and vineyard. And by now we know the vineyard is where a good wine is born, not in the cellar. Aristargos is “why we love white blends. This wine remains old vine focused, but we also include grapes from younger plantings” they say.

Drinking beautifully with a broad, palate, an enticing wine which takes you on a journey with lots of layers and complexity. Yet a wine that is so easy to sip and enjoy without dissecting it. Expressive pear, peach and orange with a hint of marzipan. Pure, elegant and well balanced. I’m in love…
