Liquid Memory; TRIZANNE ORIGIN RANGE: 2022 Releases.

Today at her beautiful home in Kommetjie, with aromatic waves of sea kelp circulating around us, Trizanne presented her impressive new releases.

This year, following the immense success and widespread acclaim of the visually captivating and highly popular Sondagskloof White, Trizanne has expanded the Origin Range with the addition of several new wines.

Trizanne Signature Wines 2022 Origin Range Release.

Groendruif Skin Contact Semillon 2022.  Elim.

The label evokes the texture the wine displays with rippling seashore minerality and  vivacious acidity.  My white wine highlight of the flight.  A nori saltiness crashes poetically with rose geranium florals, balmy nuances of vanilla & bruised apples.

Sondagskloof White 2022.  (Near Stanford)

Combining skin and barrel fermented components with wild yeasts adding yet another dimension this makes for an incredibly complex and intriguing Sauvignon Blanc. Elderflower cordial, black currant leaf and freshly popped peas garner interest on the nose while dried peach and pears ripple with a savoury undertones.

Benede-Duivenshokrivier Chardonnay 2022.

Grapes were sourced from the incredible ward of Lower Duivenhoksrivier situated between Riversdale, Vermaaklkheid and Heidelberg with the Cape South Coast Region.  A beautiful cool climate, mineral driven chardonnay.  An effort to express the grapes character and a sense of place rather than winemaking decisions is evident.  Wonderfully balanced with a persistent acidity. Citrus peel notes interplay with starfruit, white peach and apple.

Hemel en Aarde Ridge Pinot Noir 2022.

Trizanne’s maiden vintage of Pinot Noir under her own name and an impressive debut of this heartbreak grape.  The wine takes you on a beautiful journey on your palate.  Waves of bright fruit, red apple, sour cherry and wild strawberries, ahead of savoury undertones and notes of rooibos tea and subtle tannins.

Elim Syrah 2022

The artist previously known as the ‘Reserve Syrah’ has got new attire and is looking fabulous.  My red highlight of the flight.  A juicy broad mid palate with alluring creaminess doesn’t dull the palate.  Heightened by freshly crushed peppercorns with a salty liquorice and violet eye.  Energetic and yet so elegant.

Hemel en Aarde Ridge Barbera 2022

NB – if you are a Trizanne fan girl you need to erase any preconceptions you have of her Barbera.  Unlike the previous vintages sourced from the west coast Darling ward, the 2022 comes from a cooler climate region, specifically the south coast area of Hemel en Aarde Ridge.   With incredible fruit concentration, raging acidity and robust tannins this is not for your average consumer – it’s wild, it’s ambitious, but it’s all kinds of wonderful.

Trizanne’s new releases carve a new found confidence for this already highly acclaimed winemaker.  Inspired by the ocean, her wines have an intoxicating energy  that rides though them, telling the tale of her connection with Mother Nature.
