Well Fed; Janse at Home // Liquid Memory; Gabrielskloof Whole Bunch Syrah 2019

Friday night Chez Bubbles. If staying in is the new going out then you better make it worth it. This was a more than adequate replacement. Great wine and Cape Town’s best charcuterie board… it was Janse at home.
If you have never have had a charcuterie board from Janse & Co then you are most definitely missing out. All made in house, pushing boundaries and packed with flavour and innovation. A selection of house made charcuteries, pickles, mustard, spiced pecan nuts & almonds, the most delicious chicken liver parfait, heavenly Camembert whipped butter & freshly baked bread. Paired exquisitely with Gabrielskloof Whole Bunch Syrah 2019 while binge watching Sex Education on Netflix with the husband aka my partner in wine. If this is what Friday nights are like going forward, then sign me up… it doesn’t get much better.
Liquid Memory; Gabrielskloof Whole Bunch Syrah 2019. If you have been sipping along my wine journey with me, you will know if there is one wine I love almost as much as Chardonnay ; it’s a carbonic wine. (See my ‘LIQUID MEMORY; Restless River Grenache’ post for a little more information on this winemaking process which takes a wine to the coolest and crunchiest levels). So as soon as this wine came on my radar I had to try it. And boy it didn’t disappoint. It is everything it alludes to; bright, light, bursting with fresh juicy red fruit, subtle spice and violets and utterly delicious. Its the purest form of Syrah, with all its attributes, although it acts like its more fun loving, cheeky younger sister. It’s convivial but also complex enough to take seriously, and a great friend to food.
This wine; this charcuterie platter were a hit straight out of the starting blocks… it was love at first sight; I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect partner!
