Meet The Winemaker Dinner Series featuring Rianie Strydom

Cape Town Winos you missed out on discovering a true secret gem last night. Foxcroft hosted Rianie Strydom last night as part of their Winemaker’s Dinner series. Rianie previously from Morgenhof & later Haskell & Dombeya Vineyards wowed guests with her recently launched & relatively undiscovered Strydom Family Wines. One of three female CWG winemakers, Rianie is one of the top winemakers in South Africa. In 2007 she won three trophies at the Tri Nation Challenge against Australia and New Zealand. The trophies were Best Shiraz, Best Red Wine and Best Wine in Show – the first time since the inception of this prestigious competition that a South African wine had won these significant accolades.
Retro 2017, Rianie’s Cab, Cinsault, Merlot blend, opened the show and won everyone’s hearts. The wine set the scene for the evening. Seriously over delivering on price versus quality. (Cellar door R120) That and her Danièle Chenin Blanc (cd R195) were the clear favourites of the evening. The food was meticulously paired with the wines; leaving the wines to show their full potential. Delicious food and a wonderful evening as always with Foxcroft. Thank you for having me, and Rianie thank you for sharing your wines and passion with us.
