Blue Skies, sand between your toes sipping on some of the world’s finest Chenins and giggling with a real life wine fairy.
Thank you Chenin Blanc Association & Jan Sleet for another epic #drinkchenin function. What a great day it was, the perfect weather organized, 50 different producers pouring their chentastic wines for a salivating wino crowd celebrating Chenin and the start of #Cape Wine 2018
Favourite wines of the day were as follows;
• Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2017 Made from old vines, fresh and zesty, little more light weight that 2016 but still powerful, lime, pear – great length. • Dirty Little Secret (in a not so small magnum) 2015 & FMC 2016 showing why Ken Forrester is one of our Kings and purveyors of Chenin in South Africa.
• Radford Dale’s newest release – the bright and delicious zesty & salty VINUM Chenin Blanc 2017.
•Illimis Chenin Blanc by Lucinda Heyns, W.O Elgin. Wonderfully focused with a beautiful matière.
• Glen Carlou ‘The Curator’s Collection’ Chenin Blanc 2017 & 2018. The ‘18 was released yesterday and showed potential but still quite closed. The 2017 only 3000 bottles produced. Perfect purity and weight, white peach, yellow apple & quince.
• Fledge & Co Klipspringer & Hoeksteen 2017
• The Wine Thief ‘Costa Del Swart’ 2017 beautiful tension and beautifully elegant and complex with a Gentle salinity and racy acidity running through.
